Tinubu’s Minister Asks Jonathan to Reject Presidential Ticket Offered by PDP

Keyamo and Jonathan

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has urged former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, to reject the presidential ticket offered to him by the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

NPO Reported that the Turaki-led faction had on Saturday announced the adoption of Jonathan as its consensus candidate for the 2027 Presidential Election.

The leaders of the faction declared the ex-President as their flagbearer by proxy despite not being recognised on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC).

Reacting to the development in a statement issued on his official X handle on Sunday, Keyamo charged Jonathan to protect his image by rejecting the ticket.

The member of President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet described the PDP faction’s decalaration of Jonathan’s candidacy as bizzare comedy.

He slammed the faction for dragging the ex-President into a charade and journey to nowhere.

“This is some kind of bizarre comedy taken too far by supposedly grown adults and some names that were actually in the corridors of power at some point in this country.

“Giving a whole Presidential ticket to an ex-President and statesman by proxy and by a bunch of people not even registered on INEC’s website.

“And they don’t give a hoot dragging such a revered figure into their charade that is certainly a journey to nowhere. Quite sad.” Keyamo said.

He warned Jonathan of being trolled by Nigerians with his failed re-election campaign in 2015 if he accepts the Turaki-led PDP faction’s ticket.

“For the sake of his global image, President Goodluck Jonathan must IMMEDIATELY issue a strong ‘no, thank you’ statement, lest Nigerians begin to recall the ‘clueless’ campaign that got him out of power – first sitting President to be so ousted.” Keyamo added.
