Factional national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has asked the administration of President Bola Tinubu to undertake a comprehensive review of Nigeria’s security framework following recent attacks in Oyo state.

Turaki spoke after leading members of the party’s faxctional National Working Committee on a condolence visit to Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan on Sunday.

The visit followed the abduction of teachers and schoolchildren in Oyo state and the reported killing of one of the victims.

Turaki said the delegation acknowledged Makinde’s efforts in strengthening the state’s security architecture and measures aimed at protecting lives and property.

“During our discussions, we acknowledged and commended Governor Makinde for his efforts in strengthening the security architecture of the state and for the proactive measures being taken to safeguard lives and property,” he said.

Turaki said prayers were offered for the affected families and expressed hope that similar incidents would not reoccur, even as he called on the APC-led Federal Government to review the country’s security framework.

“The persistent security challenges facing our country require urgent attention, decisive leadership, and a complete overhaul of outdated structures to ensure a more responsive and effective security system for all Nigerians,” he said.

The Kebbi-born politician added that the safety of citizens, especially children, should remain a national priority.
