The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has announced the results of the primaries to elect House of Representatives candidates for the 2027 elections.
PrimeTimes Nigeria understands that seven candidates emerged victorious in the just-concluded exercise and would fly the flag of the PDP in the forthcoming elections.
The PDP stated that the primaries were conducted peacefully and urged all members to rally behind the flag bearers ahead of the general elections.
A statement by the Kogi State Chairman of the Party, Muhammed Sanni Gambo, lists the successful candidates who emerged as party flagbearers for the House of Representatives elections as follows:
1) Abdulrahman Badamasui – Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency
2) Abdulkadir Ibrahim – Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency
3) Muhammed Etudaiye – Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency
4) Mohammed Idris Lawal – Ajaokuta Federal Constituency
5) Okolo Ikani Benjamin – Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency
6) Femi Victor Olubiyo – Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency
7) Ibigbemi Sesan Samuel – Yagba Federal Constituency.
Meanwhile, according to the party, the list of successful candidates for Ankpa and Idah Federal Constituencies is yet to be released.
In other news, the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fixed Tuesday for the screening of former President Goodluck Jonathan as its lone presidential aspirant.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the party listed former Vice-President Namadi Sambo, former Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tom Ikimi, among members of the screening committee.
Other members of the 14-member committee include Olabode George, Babangida Aliyu, Maryam Ciroma, Zainab Maina, Josephine Anenih, Abdul Bulama, Esther Uduehi, Edo State PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, Sunday Solarin and Anicho Okoro, who will serve as administrative secretary.
Although the party’s statement referred to a lone presidential aspirant, sources who spoke with This Day identified the aspirant as Jonathan.
