The South-South leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) youth wing says it is ready to work with Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Obong Prince Ikim to deepen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The commitment was made during a strategic meeting and courtesy visit by APC youth leaders from across the region to the office of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration, promoting youth participation and advancing support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking during the engagement, APC South South Youth Leader, Avwomakpotor Koyoyo Uhrorho said the regional youth leadership identified Ikim as a credible grassroots mobiliser capable of driving support for the APC in the region.
His words: “We are here because we found you worthy as one of the leaders in this region that we need to work with. We need leaders with credibility, capacity, and strong grassroots acceptance who can engage young people and help deliver victory for our party.”
He said the consultations were part of efforts to consolidate support for Tinubu and APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
Uhrorho added that modern elections require communication and engagement rather than violence and intimidation, adding that misinformation on social media had contributed to negative perceptions about government policies.
The APC youth leader commended Ikim for what he described as his commitment to public service and political mobilisation.
Responding, Ikim thanked the visiting youth leaders for their support and commitment to the APC and Tinubu administration.
He described the Renewed Hope Agenda as “a practical and transformative vision already yielding visible results across the country”.
Ikim cited economic reforms, the student loan scheme, infrastructure development, power sector reforms and efforts towards food security as achievements of the administration.
He also highlighted the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project as a landmark initiative capable of transforming economic activities in the south-south and south-east regions.
“Today, Nigerians can clearly see that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not just a slogan but a working vision. As youth leaders and ambassadors of this movement, we carry the responsibility of ensuring that the achievements and reforms of government are properly communicated to the grassroots,” he stated.
Ikim said youths must serve as a bridge between government and citizens through civic engagement and strategic communication.
He urged youth leaders across the south-south region to remain united in promoting peace, national development and responsible political participation.
Ikim also commended Senate President Godswill Akpabio, governors in the South-South and other political stakeholders for supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He particularly praised Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom for what he described as inclusive leadership through the ARISE Agenda.
Earlier, the meeting featured the introduction of coordinators and stakeholders of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Akwa Ibom state.
Among those introduced were Henry Archibong, Commissioner for Housing and Coordinator for Itu Local Government Area and Ubuo Effiong Ubuo, Commissioner for Water Resources and Sanitation and Coordinator for Okobo among others.
In his vote of thanks, Archibong commended the APC South-South youth leadership for identifying with Akwa Ibom state.
He also praised Tinubu, Eno and Ikim for creating opportunities for youths to contribute to governance and national development.
