THE University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, has debunked the story that it is experiencing a severe power outage.
The hospital’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mrs Funmi Adetuyibi, discredited the story in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan on Wednesday.
NAN reports that a viral video had exposed a staff member allegedly diverting diesel meant for the hospital’s critical units while it battles a power outage.
The hospital’s Chief Security Officer was seen in the video uncovering the sabotage on Monday.
Adetuyibi confirmed the diesel theft but said that it was untrue that the hospital was experiencing a power crisis, as alleged in the video.
“The story that there is a power outage currently in UCH is not true at all.
“The guy in the video actually stole diesel, and that is all.
“There is no power outage in the hospital; everything is fine and calm.
“We have IBDEC now, and there is light in the hospital.
“We have other places where the generator runs in case the light goes off.
“Also, there are no issues with the services in the hospital,” she said.
The hospital’s spokesperson, thereafter, pleaded with the public to desist from spreading rumours. (NAN)
