Okitipupa/Irele Reps race: APC aspirant, Omoniyi challenges primary outcome, alleges irregularities

AN aspirant for Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, Mr Wale Omoniyi, has submitted a petition to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Appeal Committee over alleged irregularities during the party’s primary.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the APC held its House of Representatives primary on Saturday.

Omoniyi in a petition made available to newsmen on Monday in Akure, said the action was aimed at protecting the integrity of the democratic process.

The aspirant in the petition, alleged irregularities and questionable actions during the exercise, stating that the acts undermined the credibility of the election.

He said it was important to uphold the wishes of party members across the constituency.

“We believe the appeal process will provide fairness, justice and proper review of the concerns raised by our team,” he said.

The aspirant expressed confidence in the leadership and internal mechanisms of the party to resolve the issues raised in the petition.

According to him, the struggle is beyond personal ambition and represented the collective desire of party faithful for transparency and due process.

“This struggle is about the collective interest of members who believe in equity, transparency and constitutional processes within the party.

“We remain resolute, focused and committed to pursuing this matter to a logical and victorious conclusion,” he said.

Omoniyi assured supporters and members of the Possibility Agenda Movement of his commitment to pursue the matter through legitimate and constitutional means.

He urged supporters across the 23 wards of the constituency to remain peaceful, united and steadfast during the appeal process. (NAN)
