A House of Representatives aspirant for Kosofe Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Oluremi Oluwalogbon-Odunsi, has rejected the results being circulated from the party’s primary election held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, insisting that no valid election took place in the constituency.
Oluwalogbon-Odunsi maintained that the figures and declarations currently making the rounds did not emerge from any recognised voting process.
She further alleged that both Mayor Adele Osinowo and the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, Hon. Khafilat Ogbara, separately declared themselves winners of the primary election.
In a statement issued after the exercise, the aspirant described the situation as a violation of the procedures laid down by the APC for the conduct of primary elections.
“I reject the purported results being circulated and announced in respect of the primary election held yesterday,” she stated.
According to her, the rejection was based on the claim that no voting exercise was conducted in Kosofe Federal Constituency on the scheduled date.
She argued that the circulation of figures and declarations despite the absence of an actual election undermined the credibility of the process and contravened the party’s internal democratic guidelines.
Oluwalogbon-Odunsi called on the leadership and stakeholders of the APC to urgently intervene in order to safeguard the integrity of the primary process and uphold democratic standards within the party.
She stressed that the credibility and reputation of the APC depended largely on transparent and credible internal elections.
“Accordingly, I do not recognise or accept the purported outcome being circulated, acknowledging the results would amount to endorsing a process that did not follow due process,” she said.
The aspirant disclosed that a formal petition and appeal detailing her observations, concerns and requests had already been submitted to the appropriate party authorities for urgent consideration.
She expressed confidence that the party leadership would review the matter thoroughly and take the necessary corrective measures.
Oluwalogbon-Odunsi also urged APC officials at both the state and national levels to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged declaration of results, noting that only a transparent review process could restore confidence among aspirants, delegates and party members in the constituency.
She reaffirmed her loyalty to the APC and its democratic ideals, insisting that her position was aimed at strengthening the party rather than creating division ahead of the general elections.
The APC had yet to officially respond to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
