The Labour Party (LP) has described the nomination forms distributed and sold by its sacked National Chairman, Julius Abure, as useless paper intended to deceive innocent people.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that this comes after pictures on social media showed Abure handing out nomination forms to different people in Abia State.
However, in a statement on Sunday, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa, the party described the development as embarrassing and ridiculous, stressing that the Nenadi Usman leadership is the only one that can issue such forms.
The statement read, “It should be clearly stated that Senator Nenadi Usman is the National Chairman of the Labour Party. All legitimate nomination forms for any elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections can only be obtained from the official National Secretariat of the party located in Utako, Abuja.
“Because of this, any Labour Party nomination form obtained from Julius Abure or any other unauthorized source is simply useless paper being spread by political tricksters who want to deceive innocent people.
“The public is encouraged to stay alert and avoid falling for the tricks of desperate political frauds pretending to be party officials. It’s interesting to wonder why Abure’s illegal “sales” activities appear to be concentrated only in Abia State.
“If he thinks that Governor Alex Otti, the party’s national leader, will give in to small-time blackmail, threats, or political tricks, he is very wrong. Julius Abure’s continued act of pretending to be the National Chairman of the Labour Party is a serious crime that has important legal consequences and has gone too far.
“As a lawyer, he should know better. “The situation is getting more serious for him, and soon he will have to face the consequences of his actions in front of the police and the courts.”
