NDC Constitutes 17-Member Committee to Screen Presidential, Governorship Aspirants

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has set up a 17-member screening committee to oversee the screening of aspirants contesting for the party’s presidential, governorship, Senate and House of Representatives tickets ahead of its primary elections.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the party’s National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, who stated that the committee would be inaugurated at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Former Ebonyi State Governor and ex-Senator, Sam Egwu, was appointed chairman of the committee, while the party’s National Legal Adviser, Barrister Reuben Egwuaba, will serve as secretary.

According to the statement, the committee is made up of party leaders, professionals and members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

Other members include Comrade Babatunde Ali as Deputy Chairman, alongside Alhaji Buba Galadima, Hon. Mohammed Sani Takori, Mr Daniel Onifade, Mr Ikeddy Isiguzo, Mr Wole Adedayo, Dr Osusu Osusu, Chief Asukewe Ikoawaji, Prof Udenta Udenta, Barrister Frederick E. Owotorufa, Hannatu Tanko, Mr Dogo Shammar, Sir Henry Obaze, Mr Clement Agiagie and Barrister Fatima Musa Abba.

The party said the committee would be responsible for screening all aspirants seeking elective positions under the NDC platform ahead of the primaries.
