Fadahunsi, who currently chairs the Senate Committee on Industry, emerged victorious during the APC senatorial primary after polling 23,593 votes.
According to the chairman of the Osun APC primary election committee, Mr Bayo Ayo, Fadahunsi defeated his opponents, Mr Famurewa Israel and Mr Thomas Ogungbangbe, who secured 472 and 806 votes respectively.
The senator was first elected into the National Assembly in 2019 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was re-elected in 2023 under the same party.
However, in 2025, Fadahunsi defected to the APC alongside four other PDP lawmakers, a move that significantly altered the political dynamics in Osun State.
Meanwhile, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi lost his bid to secure a second APC ticket for Osun Central Senatorial District.
Fadeyi was defeated by senior lawyer, Adekunle Adegoke (SAN), who polled 26,655 votes to emerge as the party’s candidate.
Fadeyi secured 13,138 votes in the exercise.
Other aspirants in the Osun Central contest included Yomi Ogunwale, who scored 2,925 votes, Akintunde Adegboye with 342 votes and Olu Fakeye, who polled 67 votes.
In Osun West Senatorial District, insurance expert Akin Ogunbiyi emerged as the APC candidate after recording a landslide victory with 30,568 votes.
His closest challenger, Gafar Akintayo, polled 1,215 votes, while Peter Ogundeji, who had earlier withdrawn from the race, received 14 votes.
Following the conclusion of the primaries, the Osun State chapter of the APC commended party members and aspirants for the peaceful conduct of the exercise across the state.
In a statement signed by the Osun APC spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, the party congratulated the successful candidates, aspirants and supporters for what it described as a successful democratic process.
The party also appealed for calm among aggrieved aspirants and urged them to avoid inflammatory comments capable of creating division within the APC.
According to the statement, aspirants dissatisfied with the process should utilise constitutional channels within the party to address their grievances.
“There is no winner and no vanquished in this sportsmanlike National Assembly primary election as our party and the entire people of the state were the overall winners,” the statement partly read.
