Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections in the state.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Mutfwang won the APC governorship primary after polling the highest number of votes in the exercise.
The Chairman of the Election Committee for the state, Fidelis Mnyim, declared him the winner on Friday in Jos.
Mnyim said Mutfwang polled 233,335 votes to defeat his rival, retired Commodore Yilchini Bida, who scored 3,070 votes.
Mnyim said, “As the chairman of this committee, I wish to declare that Caleb Mutfwang, having scored the highest votes and satisfied the requirements of APC constitution, as the winner of the primary.
“Therefore, he is returned as the elected governorship candidate for Plateau in the 2027 general elections.”
Mbah Emerges Enugu APC Sole Governorship Candidate
In a related development, Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has emerged as the sole governorship candidate of the APC for the 2027 election in the state.
Mbah was declared the winner of the party’s governorship primary on Friday in Enugu by the Enugu State APC Governorship Primary Election Committee.
The committee was led by Danmalikin Hausa.
Hausa said Mbah was affirmed by party members after the primary election was conducted across the 260 wards of the state on Thursday.
He disclosed that 397,370 accredited APC members participated in the exercise. The committee chairman described the primary as peaceful, credible and rancour-free.
