Former Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Mannir Dan-Iya, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, ahead of the 2027 general elections in Sokoto State.
Dan-Iya secured the party’s ticket following the ADC governorship primary election conducted across the state’s 244 wards in the 23 local government areas.
The Chief Returning Officer of the exercise, Prof. Aminu Abubakar Illela, announced that Dan-Iya polled 52,831 votes to emerge victorious.
“Consequently, I hereby declare you as the ADC candidate for the 2027 general elections,” Illela stated while announcing the results.
In his acceptance speech, Dan-Iya thanked party members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to justify the mandate given to him.
He expressed optimism that the ADC would defeat the ruling party in the forthcoming elections and called on members to remain united ahead of the polls.
Dan-Iya also acknowledged the support of former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, alongside other party leaders and stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Tambuwal said the ADC remained confident of victory in the 2027 elections, noting that the party had provided opportunities for many young people to contest elective positions.
He urged party members to remain patient, resilient, and committed to ensuring the success of the party at the polls.
