The lawmaker representing Kebbi South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Garba Musa Maidoki, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was contained in a resignation letter he addressed to the chairman of APC, Rafin Zuru Ward in Zuru local government area of Kebbi State on May 14, 2026.
Maidoki explained that his decision to dump the APC is due to the crisis in the party, which has raised serious concerns about his own political ambition.
Maidoki said, “This is to inform you, the chairman of APC Rafin Zuru Ward that I have withdrawn my membership card as a member of All Progressive Congress ( APC ).
“My decision is based on serious and continuous crisis in your party which has made my political aspiration and ambition a source of concern.”
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the Senator’s decision to dump the APC comes ahead of the scheduled party primaries in preparation for the 2027 elections.
Meanwhile, two prominent aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah and Sani M. Kabiru, have withdrawn from the party’s senatorial primary elections scheduled for May 18, 2026.
Na’Allah, a former senator who represented Kebbi South Senatorial District, announced his withdrawal in a letter addressed to the APC State Chairman in Birnin Kebbi.
In the letter, the former lawmaker said his decision followed what he described as “credible information” about the disposition of the party ahead of the exercise.
He alleged that directives from higher authorities had influenced the situation.
Similarly, Sani M. Kabiru, popularly known as Kabiru Sani Giant, withdrew from the APC senatorial primary for Kebbi Central Senatorial District.
Kabiru, in his letter to the party leadership, said his withdrawal was informed by “personal, political, and strategic factors.”
He appreciated party leaders, members of his campaign team, and supporters for their encouragement and support throughout his aspirations.
Kabiru said his decision to withdraw from the race did not mean he was leaving the APC.
