Lagos State House of Assembly lawmaker, Desmond Elliot, has tendered an apology to Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, over his revolt against his warning during the leadership crisis at the assembly.
This is coming barely 24 hours after Gbajabiamila accused the lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency of nearly costing him his job.
NPO Reported that the Chief of Staff had at a stakeholders’ meeting in Surulere on Thursday evening revealed how Elliot’s involvement in the initial impeachment of the Lagos Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, had caught the attention of Tinubu and nearly cost him his job after defending him.
Gbajabiamila also accused Desmond of inciting religious division among constituents.
Reacting to the allegations while speaking on TVC’s Your View programme on Friday, the Nollywood actor-turned-politician apologised to the Chief of Staff and a matriarch of Surulere constituency who he simply identified as Mama.
He attributed his political success to Gbajabiamila while admitting to his mistakes.
“The Gbaja this, Gbaja that of the world. My Baba. I know you are upset. I want to say I’m sorry in front of everyone.
“Nothing breaks my heart than for you not to love me the way you’ve always loved me. I’m not saying media will come out, Desmond begs again. Yes!
“That is because he is my egbon and I grow up learning everything I know in politics through him.
“He might be upset over something or whatever it was. I am human and to err is human, to forgive is divine.
“I’m sorry my Daddy if I’ve offended you in anyway. To the matriarch of Surulere, Mama, I’m sorry if I’ve offended you but I will keep keeping the party strong.” He said.
Desmond also apologised to his constituents as he pledged not to disappoint them if re-elected.
“And to all Surulereans, my scorecard is there. You know the things I’ve done to make Surulere a better place and my promise is that I will never let you down if given the opportunity to serve you again.” He said.
The lawmaker however hinted possibilities of the Lagos Assembly leadership crisis costing him his re-election bid as he highlighted his accomplisshment over the years.
