Gunmen on Friday invaded Ahoro-Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State and abducted an unspecified number of students of Community High School in the area.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the attackers stormed the community between 8 am and 9 am.

A source in the community who spoke with Daily Post said the gunmen also abducted the school principal, Mrs Rachael Alamu, during the attack.

The source added that a teacher was shot by the assailants, although details of the victim’s condition were still unclear at the time of filing this report.

According to the source, the gunmen escaped with the principal in her vehicle before fleeing into a forest reserve bordering the community.

The source said, “An unspecified number of students. We don’t know their number.

“The school principal, Mrs Rachel Alamu, was also abducted. They also shot a teacher in the school. I don’t know the sex of the teacher.

“The police station is far from that place. The nearest police station should be Ikoyi Division.”

The Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the attack when contacted.

He, however, did not state whether any students or school officials were kidnapped.

“There was an attack in that area. The Commissioner of Police is on his way to the area,” Ayanlade said.
