Nollywood actress Bolaji Ogunmola has reacted to public comments surrounding her romantic scenes with fellow actor Daniel Etim Effiong.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the actress said the kissing moments seen in movies were strictly part of their acting jobs and had nothing to do with a real-life relationship.
Speaking during an interview with Jay On-Air TV, Ogunmola explained that she originally saw the scenes as normal work responsibilities carried out according to movie scripts.
She said there was no emotional attachment involved while filming the scenes.
The actress said things later became uncomfortable after social media users began spreading rumours that she and Daniel Etim Effiong were romantically involved outside movie sets. According to her, the assumptions were false and unnecessary.
Ogunmola stated that the actor’s wife already understood the nature of his profession and had seen the movie clips without raising concerns. She explained that people close to actors usually understand that film scenes are fictional and should not be mistaken for real-life situations.
She said: “We only kiss in movies. Even his wife is not bothered because she understands Daniel’s job. People started linking us together after the movie scenes, but there is nothing between us outside work. We are only colleagues in the industry.
“Actors are simply playing roles given to them, but people sometimes fail to separate movies from real life. We are not close outside film sets and there are no hidden feelings or arrangements. Professional boundaries are important in Nollywood.”
