The Acting Chairman of the Ondo State Hospitals’ Management Board (HMB), Dr. O. N. Akeredolu has commended the Alani of Idoani, Gen. Olufemi Olutoye (Rtd), for his intervention in the renovation of doctors’ and nurses’ quarters at the General Hospital, Idoani in Ose Local government area of the state
Akeredolu described the gesture as a significant boost to healthcare delivery in the community.
Speaking during an appreciation visit to the monarch, Akeredolu said the timely renovation project aligns with the Ondo State Government’s ongoing efforts to revitalise the health sector and improve working conditions for medical personnel across public health institutions.
He noted that the intervention by the nonagenarian traditional ruler reflects a deep sense of patriotism and commitment to the welfare of healthcare workers, adding that such support from community leaders remains critical to sustaining government’s development agenda.
According to him, the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is committed to repositioning the health sector through strategic investments in infrastructure and human resources, stressing that the monarch’s gesture has further complemented these efforts.
“The renovation of these quarters will not only enhance the living conditions of doctors and nurses but also improve service delivery, as healthcare workers are better motivated in conducive environments,” he said.
Akeredolu further disclosed that the state government has approved the recruitment of 100 doctors, 207 nurses, 20 pharmacists, 20 laboratory scientists, as well as other health professionals to strengthen the workforce in public hospitals.
He explained that the recruitment process is already underway, with necessary administrative procedures being finalised, assuring that the General Hospital, Idoani, would benefit from the new personnel to enhance its service capacity.
The HMB chairman used the occasion to call on other traditional rulers, well-meaning individuals, and private sector stakeholders to emulate the Alani of Idoani by supporting government initiatives, particularly in critical sectors such as healthcare.
He emphasised that sustainable development requires collective effort, noting that government alone cannot meet all societal needs without the active involvement of citizens and community leaders.
