Former Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has slammed the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, over a promise to deliver massive votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Akpabio made the promise during the consultation with critical stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Government House, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where Governor Umo Eno formally consulted party members on his return bid to the Government House in 2027.
A statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio, was quoted as saying, “The event of today shows that Governor Eno is a peaceful governor, a man of God in words and in deeds.
“His peaceful disposition and ability to carry everybody along have given us the assurance that, in the South-South geo-political zone, Akwa Ibom will deliver the highest number of votes.
“Despite the fact that he has no one challenging him for the sole ticket of the party, he is humble enough to still consult party members and critical stakeholders in the state. That is very instructive of the kind of person he is.
Reacting to the statement in a post via his 𝕏 handle, Sowore accused Akpabio of padding votes in 2019 to claim victory for himself, stressing that the professor involved in the manipulation ended up in jail.
He said, “Godswill Akpabio is promising Bola Ahmed Tinubu “massive” votes from Akwa Ibom when in 2019 he had to pad votes to claim victory himself. The rigging were so brazen that even the professor accused of manipulating results for him ended up in jail.
“By 2023, Akpabio could not even secure victory at his party primaries until a compromised court decision helped insert him as a candidate.
“Foolish people!”
