The family of late Oyo schoolteacher slaughtered by bandits, Micheal Oyedokun, has appealed to the members of the public against the circulation of the horrific video capturing moment of his murder.

NPO Reported that Oyedokun, a Mathematics teacher, was among the teaching staff of Ahoro-Esinele Community High School, kidnapped alongside their students in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

The incident which occurred last week Friday led to the death of one teacher and a motorcyclist.

While the state government had assured the public of ongoing rescue mission, the death toll would increase to three on Monday as the bandits released a disturbing video of Oyedokun’s murder.

The teacher, in the short graphic clip, was beheaded by his captors, triggering fresh call for the urgent rescue of other kidnapped victims.

Sequel to the development, the family of the late Oyedokun, on Tuesday released a statement calling for the stoppage of further circulation of the video show the brutal murder of the teacher.

While appreciating the public for their concern and sympathy, the family, in the statement issued on Instagram by a lady who simply identified herself as Oluwabukolami and described the late teacher as her uncle, maintained that the continuous circulation of the video has been traumatising the family.

“Hello everyone, please we sincerely appeal to the public and media platforms to kindly reduce or stop sharing the graphic videos and pictures of our beloved uncle.

“We truly appreciate the love, concern, and sympathy shown towards our family during this painful time. However, the continuous circulation of those videos and images is deeply traumatizing for us as a family.’ Oluwabukolami wrote.

She further disclosed the emotional toil the development had taken on the children of the deceased teacher who, according to her, are currently writing examinations.

Oluwabukolami urged those who may want to use the videos or images to censor the graphic part for the mental and emotional wellbeing of the deceased’s loved ones.

“His children are currently writing their exams, and it has been extremely difficult emotionally for them, his elderly loved ones, and all of us his nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives especially as these contents keep appearing on social media.

“For the sake of our mental and emotional wellbeing, we humbly ask that if it is necessary to post about the incident, please kindly blur the videos/images or make use of the pictures officially released by the family instead.

“We sincerely appreciate your understanding, prayers, love, and support during this difficult period. Thank you.” She added.
