The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed the elimination of a senior ISIS commander identified as Al-Minuki during a coordinated joint military operation involving Nigerian forces and the United States.
According to military sources, the operation was carried out in a strategic strike targeting terrorist strongholds linked to Islamic State activities within the Lake Chad Basin region. The mission, described as highly precise and intelligence-driven, led to the neutralization of Al-Minuki, a key figure believed to have played a major role in coordinating attacks and logistics for ISIS-affiliated cells in the area.
The DHQ noted that the success of the operation reflects ongoing collaboration between Nigeria and international allies in the fight against terrorism.
