Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reassured the families of the kidnapped students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of the state of ongoing efforts to secure the safe return of the victims.
Makinde gave the assurance in a statement issued on his X handle on Wednesday in celebration of Eid-el-Kabir and Children’s Day.
The Oyo governor expressed his thought with the families of the kidnapped victims as he reiterated that security agencies are working to ensure the rescue of the victims and their safe return home.
‘As we mark this year’s Eid and Children’s Day, our thoughts are with every family awaiting the return of their loved ones, and with security agencies working to keep our communities safe.
‘We are working to ensure the safe return of those who were kidnapped in Oriire LGA. May this holy season fill our State with peace.’ The governor wrote.
NPO Reported that a group of suspected terrorists had on Friday 15th of May stormed the local government, attacking the Ahoro-Esinele Community High School killing a teacher and a motorcyclist before abducting several others.
They advanced to Yahoro Baptist Nursery and Primary school and L.A Primary school where they abducted several pupils and their teachers.
The total number of people currently in the kidnappers’ den is estimated to 46 which include seven teachers and 39 students.
