Bruno Fernandes has been named Premier League Player of the Season on Saturday after a standout campaign for Manchester United.
Fernandes equalled the record for most assists in a single Premier League season, registering 20 assists alongside Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
The 31-year-old also scored eight league goals, playing a key role in Manchester United’s strong season under manager Michael Carrick, as the club finished third to secure UEFA Champions League qualification.
Fernandes is the first Manchester United player to win the award since Nemanja Matic in the 2010/11 season.
He beat competition from David Raya, Gabriel Magalhães, Declan Rice, Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo, Igor Thiago, and Morgan Gibbs-White to claim the prestigious award.
Fernandes had earlier been crowned Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year for the same season.
In the Young Player of the Season category, Manchester City defender Nico O’Reilly claimed the award after a breakout campaign.
O’Reilly established himself at left-back and midfield, scoring five goals and providing three assists. He also scored twice in City’s League Cup final victory over Arsenal in March and started in their FA Cup final win against Chelsea.
Other nominees for the Young Player award included Rayan Cherki, Mateus Fernandes, Lewis Hall, Michael Kayode, Kobbie Mainoo, Alex Scott, and Eli Junior Kroupi.
