Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, on Friday presented the results of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election to President Bola Tinubu following his emergence as the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The development was confirmed on Saturday in a post on Hamzat’s official X handle, where he detailed the visit and his remarks.
He was accompanied on the visit by his wife, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat.
The meeting came shortly after Hamzat was declared winner of the APC governorship primary election conducted across Lagos State.
The presentation of the results is seen as a key political development as the ruling party intensifies preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Although details of the discussions were not made public, the visit is believed to be part of ongoing consultations within the APC following the conclusion of its primaries in Lagos.
In his post, Hamzat expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him by party members.
“My wife, Oluremi, and I visited His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to present the official results of the Lagos APC gubernatorial primary,” he wrote.
Hamzat described his emergence as the party’s governorship candidate as both an honour and a major responsibility, pledging commitment to continued development in Lagos State.
“I remain deeply grateful for the trust placed in me. Securing the party’s nomination for the 2027 governorship election is both an honour and a profound responsibility.
“We are working every single day to ensure that our state remains a place where every family can thrive, every business can grow, and every young person can find real opportunities,” he stated.
He further thanked supporters for their confidence in his vision, adding:
“The energy and trust you have placed in this vision mean everything to us. The journey ahead is about turning that shared hope into meaningful progress for everyone,” Hamzat added.
