Former lawmaker, who represented Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Ben Murray-Bruce has rejected reports claiming he was disqualified or had withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial race.

The APC had released the full list of Senatorial aspirants not cleared to participate in the Party’s Senate Primary Elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Those not cleared include Senator Ben Murray Bruce from Bayelsa, Sen. Garba Musa Mai Doki from Kebbi, Bello Abudullahi Bodejo from Taraba and Senator Banigo Ipalibo from Rivers State.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that in a post on 𝕏, the former Senator said the reports making the rounds were false and surprising.

He added that it made him reach out to the APC national chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, to confirm why such a story was circulated.

He stated clearly that he has not withdrawn and has not been disqualified from any process within the party.

He also urged journalists to be more careful and verify facts before publishing political reports, especially in situations where information is still developing.

He wrote: “This report is fallacious. I was surprised to see it on your platform. It prompted me to call the Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, to find out why you would report such a state of affairs.  I have neither withdrawn nor been disqualified. These are very fluid times, and it would be in the best interest of journalistic excellence to exercise caution and verification, rather than utilise speed in your reportage.”
