Scenes of disorder unfolded on Thursday at the national headquarters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja as former President Atiku Abubakar formally submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to pursue the presidency in the 2027 general election.

The chaos was triggered by the arrival of a large and enthusiastic crowd of Atiku’s loyalists and supporters, who made a forceful push to gain entry into the venue’s main hall.

In their determination to get inside, the crowd overwhelmed the security personnel and bouncers stationed at the entrance, in the process breaking down the doors of the room. Once inside, the surging crowd flooded the hall in a disorderly manner, shoving aside journalists and other invited guests in the process.

Despite persistent efforts by members of the press to secure a statement or brief interview with the former Vice President, none were successful.

Reporters who attempted to intercept him after the event were left empty-handed, as Atiku reportedly made a quiet exit through an underground basement, leaving journalists waiting and unable to get any direct comment from him.
