Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu, Lagos State, have urged party members to remain united and sustain their support following the affirmation of Senator Mukhail Abiru as Lagos East senatorial candidate

The party leaders made the call on Monday during the APC senatorial primary in Ikorodu.

Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Chief Abiodun Ogunleye, described the APC as a disciplined and democratic party.

He urged eligible voters to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the general elections.

“Your PVC is your weapon. Ensure that everyone around you who has not registered goes to get their PVC so they can come out en masse during the general election,” Ogunleye said.

He also called on party members to remain united in sustaining the progressive leadership for which Ikorodu is known.

Earlier, the immediate past Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Mr Wasiu Adesina, said the large turnout at the primary reflected confidence in Senator Abiru’s leadership and performance.

Other party leaders, including Dr Nurudeen Agbaje and Mr Kaoli Olusanya, commended members for the peaceful conduct of the exercise, noting that the affirmation process followed due process.

In his remarks, Senator Mukhail Abiru expressed appreciation to APC leaders and members for affirming him as the party’s senatorial candidate.

Abiru said the affirmation reflected the confidence party members and constituents had in his leadership and representation.

“I thank God, our party leaders and supporters for standing by me throughout this process,” he said.

He noted that the absence of an opposing aspirant showed that his stewardship had gained broad acceptance across the district.

Abiru also commended President Bola Tinubu for providing leadership that had enabled several development projects and programmes.

He urged party members to continue supporting the APC at all levels, including presidential and governorship elections, describing the primary process as transparent and credible.

According to him, while some individuals may be dissatisfied with the outcome, the process was conducted fairly and in line with due process.

He stressed the need for members to remain united and focused on the party’s progress.

Also speaking, the APC Chairman in Ikorodu Local Government, Mr Jimoh Tijani, thanked party leaders and members for supporting Senator Abiru’s candidacy.

Tijani urged members to maintain the same level of commitment and participation during the State House of Assembly primaries scheduled for May 20.

“I commend all our party members and urge you to come out en masse again for the State Assembly primaries,” he said.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
