Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos Mainland Local Government Area on Monday affirmed Sen. Wasiu Eshilokun as the party’s consensus candidate for the Lagos Central Senatorial District.
Eshilokun, who is currently representing Lagos Central in the Senate, was affirmed during the APC senatorial primary election held at Evans Square, Ebute Metta, Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that party members turned out in large numbers for the exercise, while security personnel were deployed to ensure a peaceful and orderly process.
Speaking at the event, the APC Electoral Officer for Lagos Mainland, Mr Adisa Gbangbala, commended members for their orderly conduct.
Gbangbala said the affirmation of Eshilokun as the consensus candidate reflected extensive consultations and agreement among party members in the local government.
He assured members of the party’s commitment to inclusive leadership and the delivery of democratic dividends to Nigerians.
Also speaking, the APC candidate for Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency, Mr Kazeem Omolaja, described the turnout and support for Eshilokun as well deserved.
Omolaja, who won the party’s House of Representatives primary election on Saturday, thanked members for their confidence in the party’s leadership.
“I am happy to be here to show my solidarity with Sen. Eshilokun and the people of Lagos Mainland for trusting us with their votes,” he said.
NAN reports that traders at the venue recorded brisk sales during the event. (NAN
