The All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee has disqualified Wole Oke from participating in the party’s primary election for the Obokun-Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State.
According to Independent, Oke was reportedly disqualified when he appeared before the screening committee in Abuja on Wednesday.
Sources familiar with the development said the decision was linked to zoning considerations within the constituency.
According to party insiders, some members of the screening committee believed the APC ticket should be zoned to Oriade Local Government Area instead of Obokun, where Oke hails from.
Oke has represented the Obokun-Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives for 24 uninterrupted years.
His latest attempt would have marked a seventh consecutive term in the National Assembly.
The development effectively brings an end to his latest bid to retain the seat.
The lawmaker was originally elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before defecting to the APC last year.
He was recently appointed Director-General of the APC campaign team for the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
In the forthcoming governorship election, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji is expected to challenge Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party (AP), who is seeking re-election.
