The confirmation was contained in a statement shared on the party’s official X account on Saturday.
Attached to the post was a payment receipt identified as Official Receipt No. 2881, showing that ₦90 million was paid through a bank draft for the purchase of the presidential nomination form. The receipt was dated Friday, May 8, 2026.
Announcing the development, the party stated, “A New Chapter in Nigeria’s Democratic Journey. H.E. Atiku Abubakar, GCON, has officially received his payment receipt to contest under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 Presidential Election.”
The ADC described the move as another major step in what it called a growing political realignment within the party and the wider opposition landscape.
“This development marks another significant moment in the growing movement for national renewal, democratic inclusion, and people-driven leadership within the ADC,” the statement read.
The party also used the occasion to project itself as a credible alternative for Nigerians seeking a new political direction ahead of the next election cycle.
“As Nigerians continue to seek credible alternatives, the ADC remains committed to providing a strong platform built on unity, competence, economic recovery, security, and national progress,” it added.
According to the party, the next stage of the process will be the formal submission of nomination documents at its national headquarters in Abuja.
“The formal presentation of nomination forms is expected on Monday at the ADC National Secretariat, Abuja,” the statement noted.
The ADC concluded by suggesting that momentum within the party continues to build ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
“The movement is growing. Hope is rising. Expect more,” the party concluded.
