The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, has described his endorsement by the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) as the official All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Lagos in the 2027 elections as humbling and historic.
As earlier reported by PrimeTimes Nigeria, GAC endorsed Hamzat as its consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election during a meeting of the council held at Lagos House, Marina, on Tuesday.
Reacting in a post on his Facebook page, the Deputy Governor said he does not take the endorsement for granted and appreciated the Chairman, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, and members of the Council for their trust and confidence in him.
He added that he has accepted the call to serve and would ensure the people of Lagos get good and accountable governance.
“Today, I was honoured to receive the unanimous endorsement of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) as the official APC Governorship candidate for Lagos in the 2027 elections.
“Receiving this endorsement from the apex leaders of our dear party is indeed humbling and historic. One I do not take for granted.
“I am grateful to the Chairman, Alhaji Prince Tajudeen Olusi, and to the members of the Council for their trust and confidence in me.
“It is a responsibility I accept with all sense of humility, and I will continue to stay focused on what truly matters to our people, which is good and accountable governance.
“Thank you once again to our leaders and God bless,” he wrote.
