Former governor of Kaduna State Nasir El Rufai

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has stated that he will be attending the national convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in spirit.

He stated this while responding to questions from newsmen after appearing at the Kaduna State High Court for a hearing on his case with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC)

A journalist asked, “How about the ADC convention tomorrow?” El-Rufai responded, “I will be there in spirit.”

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the ADC, the party housing the coalition of opposition leaders, is expected to conduct its convention in Abuja on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State High Court on Monday adjourned the hearing of the bail application filed by former governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, in his case with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the case was adjourned until Tuesday.

El-Rufai’s counsel, Ubong Akpan (SAN), disclosed the development while speaking with journalists shortly after the court proceedings.

According to him, the charges against the former governor were amended, leading to the removal of one of the co-defendants from the case.

Akpan said, “The motion for bail was taken, and the court took the plea of the defendant.

“The charges were amended, and one of the co-defendants was removed, leaving only Malam Nasir El-Rufai as the defendant.

“The court has adjourned until tomorrow.”

El-Rufai is currently facing a 10-count charge bordering on alleged financial misappropriation and money laundering.
