Badagry (Lagos State), April 13, 2026 (NAN) An APC aspirant in Badagry, Mr Ahadji Friday, popularly known as Willy Osha, says President Bola Tinubu has reshaped the country through fuel subsidy removal.
Friday said this on Monday when he formally declared his intention to contest for the Lagos State House of Assembly, in Badagry.
He said the removal of fuel subsidy had impacted positively on the federal allocation being shared by the three tiers of government.
“This has enabled them to pay the salary of their workers regularly and embarked on different projects in their states.
“Apart from this, the Federal Government has embarked on the biggest project in the country tagged: “Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway,” he said.
He added that some of the policies of the present administration had improved local government funding, the students loan scheme and empowerment programmes, among others.
Speaking on his ambition, Friday said his decision was anchored on experience, consistency, and active involvement in the political structure over time.
“Basically, I am here today to make my declaration to the leadership of Badagry West to contest for the Lagos State House of Assembly,” he said.
He acknowledged the critical role of the party leadership in the process, noting that their guidance remains vital ahead of the primaries.
Friday recalled his previous attempt at the polls, stating that he has remained committed and active in spite of not emerging victorious in the last election.
“I’ve been on the ground with our people and the leadership, doing the little I can with my minimal resources.
“I contested during the last election but lost. I did not relent, and I have been very active,” he added.
Speaking on his capacity, Friday maintained that his political exposure, as well as his public and private sector experience, positions him to deliver effective representation if given the opportunity.
“While other aspirants are not bad, I believe I can do better because I have the political, public, and private sector experience and academic qualification.
“I am a round peg in a round hole.
“I have remained loyal to the leadership and the party structure over the years,” he said.
Friday, therefore, urged the leaders and people of Badagry West to support his ambition, assuring them of quality representation.
In his remarks, Chief Bamgbose Joseph, Apex Leader of Badagry West, commended Friday for formally presenting his aspiration before the leadership.
Joseph said such engagement reflects respect for party structure and due process.
He said the leadership of the party would give all the aspirants fair hearing.
Joseph also stressed the need for unity, discipline, and adherence to party guidelines as the process unfolds. (NAN)
