THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has regained access to its national headquarters in Abuja after the premises were unsealed by the Nigeria Police.
In a statement issued on April 11, 2026, the party said that its National Secretariat at Wadata Plaza, Zone 5, as well as Legacy House in Maitama, were reopened in compliance with court orders.
According to the statement, the facilities have now been handed over to the National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed Takushara and the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
The development marks a turning point after weeks of internal tensions that led to the sealing of the party’s offices, raising concerns among members about leadership control and the stability of the opposition party.
Reacting to the developmwnt, the PDP commended the police for what it described as professionalism and respect for due process. It stated that the action reflects adherence to the rule of law and constitutional order.
However, the party also issued a warning against any further disruption at its secretariat. It stressed that it would not tolerate actions capable of causing unrest, adding that security agencies have been placed on alert to deal with any breaches.
The party also expressed confidence that the reopening of the offices signals the resolution of its recent internal crisis. It called on aggrieved members to set aside their differences and work together in the interest of unity.
It acknowledged the support of its leaders and stakeholders during the period, giving special mention to Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for his role.
With the secretariat now reopened, the PDP says it is focused on moving forward stronger and more united as it works to reposition itself ahead of future political engagements.
