THE Police Command in Jigawa has assured candidates and exam stakeholders of adequate security for the conduct of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME in the state.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Haruna Yahaya, made this known in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Shiisu Adam, in Dutse on Thursday.
The News Agency of Nigeria NAN reports that the UTME is scheduled to hold nationwide from April 16 until April 25.
Yahaya said the command had put in place comprehensive security arrangements to ensure a hitch-free conduct of the examination at all accredited Computer-Based Test CBT centres in the state.
“In line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olatunji Rilwan-Disu, and the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, supporting educational advancement, we have been directed to deploy adequate personnel to all approved CBT examination centres across the state.
“This is to guarantee a secure, peaceful, and conducive environment for candidates, examination officials and other stakeholders,” he said.
He said the deployed personnel comprised uniformed officers, operatives on mufti, and intelligence teams, tasked with maintaining law and order, as well as preventing any form of security breach.
The CP added that the command had intensified patrols, surveillance and access control measures around examination venues and adjoining areas, to deter criminal activities and to ensure seamless movement of candidates and officials.
He advised parents, guardians and candidates to cooperate with security personnel, and adhere strictly to examination guidelines adding that suspicious activities should be reported to the nearest police formation.
The CP, reassured the public of the command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state, and wished all candidates excellence in their examinations. NAN
