Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspects, including a private security guard, over the theft of a vehicle, recovering a stolen Lexus RX 300 SUV in the process.
The suspects — Obada Ezekiel, 27; Emmanuel Timothy, 25; and Yaya Yakubu, 27 — were apprehended by officers attached to the Ibafo Division on April 18, 2026, following a distress call and credible intelligence.
Police said the arrest was made around 11:00 a.m. after an anonymous tip-off led operatives to a hideout within the Ibafo axis, where the ash-coloured Lexus RX 300 was recovered.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ezekiel, who was employed as a security guard attached to the vehicle, allegedly conspired with the other suspects to steal the car from Lagos and transport it to Ibafo for disposal.
The suspects are currently in police custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further investigation and prosecution.
Commending the operatives for their swift response, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bode Ojajuni, praised their professionalism and effective use of intelligence in tracking down the suspects and recovering the vehicle.
The Command also lauded members of the public for providing timely information and reiterated its commitment to intelligence-led policing, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its emergency lines.
