Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, on Thursday visited Bauchi State for a meeting with Governor Bala Mohammed.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Obi arrived at the Government House in Bauchi where he went into a closed-door discussion with the governor inside the Presidential Lounge. The reason for the meeting was not made public at the time of the visit, as both men kept details of their talks away from journalists.

People around the Government House said the discussion may be linked to current political movements and possible alliances ahead of future elections in the country. Both leaders are expected to speak to the press after the meeting ends.

Governor Bala Mohammed, who leads the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, had earlier said in March that he was open to moving to the African Democratic Congress. He made this known during a visit by an ADC team led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, at the Bauchi Government House.

Shortly after that, his political direction appeared less clear when he hosted the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, in early April.
