The Citizens Alliance for Security and National Cohesion (CASNC) has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for recent operations across the country.
It cited multiple rescues, arrests and disruptions of terrorist activities as signs of growing operational effectiveness.
In a statement signed by its National President, Ibrahim Danjuma, the group pointed to the rescue of 13 passengers abducted along the Makurdi–Otukpo route in Benue State.
It said the victims were recovered from a forest after a coordinated search effort.
“This intervention underscores the military’s improved capacity to track and recover victims within a short window, even in difficult terrain,” the statement noted.
The group also cited operations in Plateau State, where troops arrested suspected attackers linked to recent violence and recovered arms, including a submachine gun, pistol and locally made weapons.
According to CASNC, some suspects were intercepted while in transit, suggesting a shift towards intelligence-led operations.
“This reflects a shift towards proactive, intelligence-driven operations,” Danjuma said.
In the North-East, the group said troops repelled attempted attacks and neutralised insurgents trying to infiltrate communities.
It referenced operations along the Kirawa–Pulka axis and Benisheikh area, where attackers were forced to retreat.
CASNC also noted the detection and safe disposal of an improvised explosive device in Borno State, preventing potential casualties.
The group said similar gains were recorded across other regions.
In Yobe, suspected logistics suppliers to insurgents were arrested, while in Sokoto, troops repelled an attack in Sabon Birni Local Government Area.
It added that in Kogi, troops dismantled a criminal camp and intercepted a logistics courier, while in Edo, security operatives foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued victims.
In the South-East, joint security teams also detected and neutralised explosive devices during patrols.
CASNC emphasised that many of the successes were made possible by intelligence from local communities.
“The role of citizens in providing timely information cannot be overstated. It continues to enhance the effectiveness of security operations,” Danjuma said.
The group also praised Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Defence Staff, for improving coordination among security agencies.
It said the level of synergy across different theatres reflects deliberate leadership efforts to integrate intelligence and rapid response mechanisms.
While acknowledging that security challenges persist, the group said the recent gains show measurable progress.
It urged continued support for the military in terms of welfare, equipment and public trust, stressing that collaboration between citizens and security agencies remains critical to achieving lasting peace.
