After an Uber driver allegedly fled with an iPhone 16 that was entrusted to him for delivery after a trip was canceled in the middle of Lagos, the driver has been located at his residence.
On Saturday, Ashake, an X user who goes by the handle #Molayoo_, raised the alarm by naming Uber in a post that included screenshots of the reservation.
“Uber, one of your riders in Lagos, Nigeria, picked up an item (an iPhone 16) from Egbeda to be transported to Ikeja. He terminated the ride in the middle and hasn’t been contacted since!
She said, Augustine Adimabua is his name. FGS, this is someone else’s business! “We require the package.”
After the motorist was allegedly tracked to his position, the situation became more heated.
Ashake provided an update on Thursday, stating that the driver had been apprehended. The driver sold the phone for N400,000, according to her.
“He has been apprehended and turned over to the appropriate authorities.” I want to thank each and every one of you for making this happen.
She wrote, “He sold an iPhone 16 for 400k out of over a million.”
The driver acknowledged that he picked up the phone in the videos that went with it.
“I acknowledge that he gave me a 256 GB iPhone 16, valued at 1.2 million naira,” he declared.
But when questioned about the phone, he said it had been stolen.
“Where’s the phone? One of the males asked, “Where is the iPhone 16?”
He said, “The phone was stolen.”
The driver was accused of being dishonest while looking clearly uncomfortable, and a woman who claimed to be his wife was stunned by the circumstances as the discussion swiftly became heated.
Since then, the video has gone viral, with some people denouncing the conduct and others recounting their own experiences with stolen package deliveries.
