Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced online recruitment of ad-hoc staff members for Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for June 20.
The commission, in a notice issued on Tuesday in Abuja through its portal for the engagement of election staff (INECPRES), said that the application window opened on April 25 and would close at midnight on May 18.
It listed four primary categories for the ad hoc roles, each with specific eligibility requirements.
The vacant positions for recruitment are: Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH) and Registration Area Centre Managers.
For the SPOs, INEC listed eligible persons as federal public/civil service and ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) on Grade Level 10 to Grade Level 14, and INEC staff members on Grade Level 09 to Grade Level 14.
Also for POs and APOs (I, II, III), the commission listed eligible persons to be serving NYSC members and former NYSC members between 2022 and 2025.
Equally eligible are INEC staff members from Grade Level 07 to Grade Level 08, MDAs from Grade Level 07 to Grade Level 10 as well as penultimate students of federal tertiary institutions.
It also listed heads or suitable staff members on Grade Level 07 and above of schools hosting the registration centres as RAC Managers, while RATECHSS is exclusively open for suitable INEC ICT staff members not engaged in other election duties.
INEC emphasised that all applicants must maintain strict non-partisanship.
According to the guidelines, candidates must not be members of any political party nor have demonstrated public support for any candidate or party.
With the exception of INEC technical staff (RATECHs), all applicants are required to reside in Ekiti to be eligible for the exercise.
The commission directed all prospective applicants to register through the official portal at pres.inecnigeria.org, while android users could also access the application via the mobile app link at www.presmobile.inecnigeria.org. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
