Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has continued to speak out over the viral video of her with the Okoyas.
Kemi Filani reported that the filmmaker had attended the 70th birthday celebration of Debola Lagos’ father.
In a video that went viral, she was seen paying her respects to Shade and her husband by kneeling to greet them.
Addressing the criticisms, Toyin described herself as a true Omoluabi who will always uphold and value her culture.
An X user slammed the actress for her greeting, calling it unnecessary and eye service.
Responding to her, Toyin expressed disappointment that Nigerians are starting to drift from their culture and traditions, to the point where kneeling is now considered as Abosi.
Abraham said she was raised to kneel when greeting those older than her, as it is a value deeply rooted in who she is, and she will continue to uphold with pride. She added that she will remain international about passing it to the younger generation.
“I have seen the various opinions regarding the manner in which I greeted some elders at a recent event. It gives me pause to reflect on when we began to drift from our culture and traditions, to the point where kneeling as we were taught is now described as “abosi.”
I, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, was raised to kneel when greeting those older than me. It is a value deeply rooted in who I am, and one I will continue to uphold with pride.
As a commitment to our heritage, I will remain intentional about passing these values on to younger generations to preserve and honour our culture. Wishing everyone a pleasant day and an even more delightful one as you watch, LOVE BETWEEN TWO ALTARS on Toyin Abraham TV on YouTube”.
The box-office queen had responded to the criticisms she received over her encounter with Olori Sekinat Elegushi, during which she went to her knees to speak to the Olori, who was comfortably seated in a chair at the event. Abraham made it known that she is a rare breed and people aren’t supposed to understand her.
On her 45th birthday, Toyin dressed in aso-oke, declared herself the one and only Oversabi Aunty of Nigeria.
Also, last year, Toyin had cried to her Maker. She said she needed God’s strength now than ever as she prayed for his guidance and direction.
Toyin had declared herself a prophet while sharing a screenshot of a message she received from a therapist who praised her movies for being therapeutic. Abraham said she doesn’t just shoot movies; she is a prophet who speaks to people through her movies.
In other news, Toyin Abraham had stunned the Internet as she attended Pastor Bolaji’s church, where she played the conga like a pro. She described the service as a moment of reflection on God’s goodness and kindness throughout the year. She praised Pastor Bolaji for his spirit-filled message, as well as his wife, for leading them in a time of extravagant praise to God.
