SEVERAL groups, including Joint Action for Good Governance (JAGG), on Sunday endorsed Mr Dele Oshinowo’s bid for the House of Representatives in Kosofe.
They urged the former Agboyi-Ketu LCDA chairman to contest under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the endorsement followed a consultative meeting in Agboyi-Ketu, attended by stakeholders, residents and grassroots mobilisers.
Groups present included Kosofe Muslim Awareness Forum, Coalition of Asalatu Groups, JAGG and Aseoluwa Cooperative Society.
Mr Abdulwahid Odunuga, JAGG National Vice President and convener of the endorsement, said Oshinowo’s record justified the decision.
“Oshinowo’s developmental strides and humanitarian initiatives have redefined governance at the grassroots level.
“I was once a critic, but his performance changed my perception of local government leadership,” he added.

Odunuga said Oshinowo impacted education, healthcare, infrastructure and empowerment programmes across Agboyi-Ketu.
He, however, urged the aspirant to address water challenges if elected into the National Assembly.
“Water remains a major challenge. We expect him to facilitate a sustainable solution for residents,” he said.
Alhaji Ibrahim Kajola, President of Kosofe Muslim Awareness Forum, also backed the endorsement.
“Oshinowo has shown capacity and commitment. We call on constituents to rally behind his aspiration,” Kajola said.
Mr Adekunle Aderibigbe, JAGG Secretary, described the former chairman’s leadership style as inclusive.
“His open-door policy encouraged engagement and constructive criticism, strengthening governance and policy implementation,” Aderibigbe said.
He noted Oshinowo was consistently ranked among top-performing council chairmen in Lagos State.
Aderibigbe said his track record justified calls for his election into the House of Representatives.
Responding, Oshinowo thanked the groups for their confidence and support.
“I am grateful for this overwhelming endorsement. It reflects the trust and belief the people have in our leadership,” he said.
He highlighted achievements recorded during his tenure as council chairman.
“We delivered housing, empowerment programmes, classrooms, healthcare facilities and sports infrastructure for community development,” Oshinowo said.
Participants also called for unity within the APC and support for his candidacy ahead of the elections. (NAN)
