Future is being dragged back to the courts after his ex-girlfriend, Brittni Mealy, accused him of ignoring a court order tied to their 12-year-old son, Prince.
According to court documents filed earlier this month in Fulton County, Mealy claims the rapper failed to secure a $500,000 life insurance policy for their son despite being ordered to do so in 2023. The filing says Future, whose legal name is Nayvadius Cash, was required to obtain the policy by Aug. 12, 2023, with Mealy named as trustee. Mealy alleges that nearly two years later, the policy still does not exist and the rapper did not keep his word.
“More than eighteen months have passed since the compliance deadline,” the petition states. “Despite several written requests over the course of several months, [Future] has failed and refused to comply.”
Mealy is now asking a judge to hold the rapper in contempt of court and potentially jail him until he follows the order.
Future has not publicly responded to the filing.
In 2021, Mealy publicly accused Future of insulting her in text messages sent to their son after she asked him to help pay for school clothes. Their back-and-forth went viral but eventually simmered down.
Future has also faced years of legal drama with two other exes, Ciara and Eliza Reign.
Future and Ciara, who share a son, Future Zahir, battled publicly after their 2014 split, with Ciara suing him for $15 million in 2016 over social media posts and interviews she said had damaged her reputation. The case was later dropped. Future has also been locked in a lengthy dispute with Eliza Reign, the mother of his daughter Reign.
After initially denying paternity, Future was ordered to take a DNA test and was later confirmed to be the father. The two have continued fighting in court over child support, with Reign seeking higher payments and Future at one point accusing her of using their daughter for “financial gain.”
