Employee docked for allegedly defrauding company

A 27-year-old employee, Esther Ibrahim on Tuesday stood before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan, in answer to charges of alleged fraud committed in a company called Koltay Nig. Enterprise.

Ibrahim is standing trial on charges bordering on the alleged offence.

She, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp. Olagoke Adegbenro, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between July 31, 2025 and Feb. 25. at the company’s premises in Dugbe Alawo, Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendant stole the sum of N1.5 million being proceeds from sale of 26 pieces of 400W solar panels, and one piece of 300W solar panel, belonging to the company.

He said that she was eventually arrested following investigations.

The offence contravenes the provisions of section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Among other terms, the court held that both sureties must be parents of the defendant.

She adjourned the case until June 1, for hearing.NAN
