Ebro Darden is weighing in after Megan Thee Stallion confirmed her split from Klay Thompson, saying the breakup did not surprise him.
Speaking on The Ebro Laura Rosenberg Show, the longtime radio host argued that public expectations around Thompson may have ignored the realities of fame and success.
“My point is, you’ve all assumed a man who makes $300 million and has four championship rings … ain’t out here bagging joints,” Ebro said. When Peter Rosenberg noted that dating Megan Thee Stallion is also a major relationship, Ebro answered, “You know what a bigger deal is? $300 million, four NBA rings.”
He later said he thinks Thompson may have entered the relationship with good intentions.

“I believe that he wanted, and tried to be somebody that he wasn’t,” Ebro said. “He was probably trying. The problem is he’s used to being a different person.”
Megan publicly ended the romance over the weekend and accused an unnamed partner of cheating before her representative later confirmed the breakup involved Thompson.
“Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous?’” she wrote. She later added, “Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward.”
Thompson has not issued a public statement.
