The Nigerian Army has commissioned critical infrastructural projects at the 192 Battalion (Rear), Owode–Yewa, Ogun State, as part of efforts to enhance operational efficiency and improve personnel welfare.
The Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 81 Division, Lt. Col. Musa Yahaya, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
“The projects were executed by the Chief of Army Staff in deliberate implementation of his command philosophy anchored on sound administration and the soldier-first concept,” he said.
According to the statement, the projects were commissioned by the General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Maj. Gen. Adebayo Babalola.
Babalola described the projects as a demonstration of commitment to troops’ welfare.
“Functional infrastructure directly impacts morale, discipline and combat readiness across formations and units,” he said.
He expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for his leadership and to President Bola Tinubu for supporting the Nigerian Army.
Earlier, the Commanding Officer, 192 Battalion (Rear), Maj. S.I. Usman, said the projects were targeted at addressing security, accommodation and medical gaps within the unit.
He assured that the facilities would be properly utilised and maintained.
The projects commissioned include fencing of the arms store, construction of a guard house, upgrade of the medical reception station, soldiers’ quarters, additional sentry posts and married officers’ quarters.
The Olu of Owode–Yewa, Oba (Rev.) Akindele Mathew Sunday, commended the Nigerian Army for the development and noted that the projects would benefit both military personnel and the host community.
