The Bauchi State Government has directed all political appointees intending to contest elective positions in the forthcoming party primaries to resign on or before Friday, April 24, 2026, in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 (as amended), if they have not already done so.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.
Gidado explained, “This directive is in line with statutory requirements governing the participation of public office holders in electoral processes and is aimed at ensuring full compliance with the law.”
He also expressed appreciation to the affected appointees for their service and contributions to the development of Bauchi State, while wishing them success in their future endeavours.
Gidado further stated, “All such appointees are further directed to hand over all government property in their possession, as well as the responsibilities of their offices, to the appropriate officer within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).”
