Bauchi APC Reps Meet Bala Mohammed Amid Defection Speculation

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, on Thursday, met with members of the House of Representatives elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the meeting came amid strong indications that the governor is perfecting moves to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling APC.

One of the Bauchi lawmakers, who spoke after the meeting in the presence of the governor, said the engagement centred on the ongoing political realignment in the country and the state.

“We are here today as members of the National Assembly to meet with our governor and leader. We are here today on a special invitation to discuss the ongoing realignment that is going on in Nigeria and most especially in our state. To discuss the political development in our state,” the lawmaker said.

The lawmaker added that the meeting ended on a positive note and that the lawmakers would soon make their position known.

“We have reached a certain positive conclusion and within a short period of time we will come out again and make our position known for the world to know what our discussions is all about,” he added.

The development has further fuelled speculation over Mohammed’s next political move as alignments continue ahead of the coming elections.

Mohammed had earlier met with some stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) alongside a top-ranking member of the PDP as he weighed his political options ahead of the elections.
