There are indications that the All Progressives Congress (APC) included its account details in the revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections following alleged moves by some governors to hijack the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms.
The governors, under the aegis of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, were alleged to have attempted a bulk purchase of the forms for the party’s forthcoming primary elections.
Multiple party sources who spoke with The Leadership claimed that pressure from the governors was responsible for the omission of the account details in the first timetable earlier released by the APC.
According to the sources, the governors allegedly planned to purchase the forms in bulk for state elections and distribute them to aspirants of their choice, particularly those seeking National Assembly seats.
The development reportedly led to the inclusion of the party’s account numbers in the revised election timetable released on Monday.
This came amid reports that President Bola Tinubu had empowered APC governors to determine those who would get the party’s tickets for the 2027 general elections.
In the revised timetable, the APC published account details for aspirants seeking to purchase the expression of interest and nomination forms.
According to the schedule, the presidential primary will be held on May 23, 2026, while the governorship primary is fixed for May 20, 2026.
The party also scheduled state House of Assembly primaries for May 20, Senate primaries for May 18, and House of Representatives primaries for May 15, 2026.
Uzodimma Silent On Allegation
When contacted by The Leadership, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, declined to comment on the allegation.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku, the governor assured APC aspirants that the party would conduct transparent and credible primaries in the states.
Nwachuku said Uzodimma remained committed to democratic principles and would support a fair process.
According to him, the party will uphold internal democracy and fair competition, while aspirants are expected to remain loyal, disciplined and sportsmanlike.
He urged aspirants to continue supporting the APC regardless of the outcome of the primaries.
The APC National Working Committee did not respond to enquiries on the alleged plan by governors to purchase the forms in bulk.
The party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, and National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, also did not respond to questions on the matter.
However, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Duro Meseko, had last Thursday dismissed claims that nomination forms would be restricted to selected individuals.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja after the NWC meeting, Meseko said all eligible party members would be allowed to purchase forms.
He said, “There was also a rumour that forms would be restricted or limited to certain individuals. I am here to inform all party faithful and aspirants that nomination forms for all aspirants seeking offices under the All Progressives Congress are open.
“Nomination forms are open to all members of the All Progressives Congress contesting elections.”
