The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has stated that the actions of the supporters of the Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi—popularly known as “Obidients”—could negatively affect his political future ahead of the 2027 elections and beyond.
She made this known on Sunday via a series of posts shared on her official X (formerly Twitter) page.
Her comments followed the reactions of Obidients to an earlier post in which Dabiri-Erewa shared details of her visit to Silicon Valley, California, where she met Nigerian professionals and experienced a ride in a driverless car.
Speaking in her latest posts, Dabiri-Erewa took a swipe at supporters of Peter Obi, describing them as “monsters”.

The NiDCOM boss further argued that the former Anambra State governor should be held accountable for the behaviour of his supporters.
“Peter Obi has actually raised monsters. By God’s grace, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win the 2027 elections. When it’s the turn of the South East and perhaps it falls on him, I hope he realises that these Obidients could ironically become his downfall. He needs to call them to order,” she wrote.
In follow-up posts responding to criticism over her comments, Dabiri-Erewa defended her engagement on social media, stating that her role as a public official does not preclude her from responding to attacks.
“This is my personal account. You can hack it again if you wish. So, because I’m a public official, I should remain silent in the face of what I consider toxic behaviour?” she added.
