Support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s anticipated 2027 re-election bid intensified on Thursday as two political support groups, the Remi Tinubu Support Organisation (RETSO) and the Progressive Coalition, staged a “Renewed Hope Walk” alongside a press conference in Ikeja, Lagos.
The mobilisation event, which drew a large turnout of supporters, including Nollywood actors, political stakeholders, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), featured a street walk through parts of Ikeja marked by chants, branded materials, and public expressions of solidarity for the administration.
The event was also attended by members of the ruling APC, a development that underscored early political alignment ahead of the next election cycle.
At the press conference that followed, speakers reaffirmed their commitment to the Tinubu administration and called for sustained grassroots engagement.
Among the political figures present were Hon. Ganiu Adewale (Ajala), Hon. Layeni Funmilayo, Vice Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, and Hon. Bulky Badmus, Women Leader of Ojodu LCDA, all of whom praised the initiative and encouraged broader mobilisation efforts across Lagos communities.
In his address, the South-West Coordinator of RETSO, Hon. Iyiade Adegoke, said the group’s backing for President Tinubu was based on confidence in his leadership and ongoing policy reforms.
He said the administration’s economic and governance reforms were beginning to show early results, expressing optimism about long-term national development.
“Our resolve is anchored on what we are already seeing. The reforms are bold, the direction is clear, and we believe Nigeria is on the path to greater heights under President Tinubu,” he stated.
Speaking on organisational readiness, the Lagos State Coordinator of RETSO, Hon. Isa Laguda, said the group had established structures across the state to ensure effective mobilisation ahead of 2027.
According to him, the organisation is deploying a grassroots network to reach communities across Lagos.
“We are organised, we are ready, and we are taking this message to every ward, every street, and every household in Lagos State,” he said.
Providing further details on the group’s outreach strategy, the National Media and Entertainment Director of RETSO, Ambassador Saidi Balogun, outlined what he described as a multi-layered engagement plan ahead of the elections.
He said the group would combine traditional political communication with grassroots engagement, including town hall meetings, community visits, and direct voter interaction, alongside empowerment initiatives targeted at women and youths.
“We are not limiting ourselves to conventional campaigns. Our focus is on direct engagement—house-to-house campaigns, town hall meetings, and community interactions that allow us to connect with people at a personal level,” he said.
The event reflects growing early political activity among support groups as political alignments gradually take shape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
With organisations such as RETSO and the Progressive Coalition stepping up mobilisation efforts, political observers say grassroots engagement and structured advocacy are likely to play a key role in shaping early campaign narratives in Lagos and beyond.
